Avoid a red face this Christmas!

Avoid a red face this Christmas!

We've had a busy few weeks in our new Manchester store welcoming customers and sharing our products with you all.

As you can imagine, gifting has been a big focus for everyone, but we have also seen a lot of interest in self-care, which is often overlooked at this time of year.  Organic India's herbal supplements have proved to be a big hit, with Shatavari and Amla selling out in the first week (don't worry more on the way)!  These herbs are a great support for women’s overall health, rejuvenation and balancing hormones.

There has also been a lot of interest in how to deal with skin redness and sensitivity, something I have been suffering with as well, and looking at it through an Ayurvedic perspective can definitively help.

In Ayurveda the Pitta Dosha is fiery, governing metabolism, digestion and energy production. When out of balance it can lead to anger, being overly critical and internal heat and digestion issues. All of which can manifest in your skin's appearance, producing sensitivity, redness and break outs.

Focusing on cooling, hydrating and bitter tasting foods will help counteract Pitta's heat internally, choosing Pitta reducing herbs like Neem will help to detoxify the system, its bitter quality making it ideal for balancing Pitta. The most important aspect in Ayurveda is a strong digestion, resetting with Triphala (Tri-phala means 3 Berries) is a brilliant place to start your Ayurvedic journey to strong gut health.

Externally, choosing Pitta soothing specific skincare will help restore balance to your skin. My go to is Youthful Skin Cream, but customers also love NAO Ayurveda Pitta Face Serum and using a Rose toner is particularly soothing to Pitta skin.

I hope to share more of our trending topics each week and we'll be planning events in the coming months with our expert guest speakers who will take us on a journey into Ayurveda and you.
